Jax Jones – House Work ft Mike Dunn & MNEK – Polydor

Multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, live beat-maker and South London native Jax Jones today shares his new single ‘House Work’. The infectious track features prolific London artist MNEK and Chicago house legend Mike Dunn. ‘House Work’ is available to buy and stream now.

At his roots, Jax Jones is a solo artist. Growing up in a musical family and constantly inspired by the sounds of afrobeat and hip hop gave Jax a fascination with the anatomy of the rhythm section. A prolific producer in the studio, Jax favours an old school approach, building on layers of live beats and real instruments to create living, breathing tracks… but a live set-up is where Jax Jones really comes to life. An organic take on live house, Jax plays a full band of instruments himself to build layers brick-by-brick. It’s an athletic display that separates him from his contemporaries. In ‘House Work’, this depth creates one of the weightiest, bass-heavy bangers of the decade in which old school Chicago beat-and-bass is given a slick 2016 finish.

His passion for Chicago house and a meticulous approach to beat-making lead Jax to collaborate with a stalwart in the genre, Mike Dunn. Mike’s immeasurable influence on the Chicago scene, from block party disco sets to classic releases like ‘Phreaky MF’ and ‘God Made Me Phunky’, can claim responsibility for influencing some of today’s biggest successes. Lending vocals to ‘House Work’ is MNEK, who also co-wrote the track with Jax Jones, the songwriting protégé behind hits for Rudimental, Gorgon City and notably Duke Dumont. This particular mutual friendship lead to Jax’s biggest successes to date with co-write and co-production credits on Dumont’s monster hit singles ‘I Got U’ and ‘Ocean Drive’. ‘I Got U’ went on to become Dumont’s first #1 UK single and receive well-deserved Grammy and BRIT Award nominations. Currently collaborating with vocalists and musicians across the genre spectrum, Jax Jones’ forthcoming album promises to be an eclectic, living body of work.
