Recently I had the chance to catch up with Essex, UK artist Leah Wood from the duo Leah Lost (with guitarist Mark Davey). A warmth of character, welcoming disposition and great sense of humor were easily apparent within minutes of beginning our conversation.
Leah spoke with a sense of pride and adoration when discussing the musical inspirations in her life. Coming from a long line of musically gifted family she has not lacked for inspiration.
Besides her grandfather, father, and mother, she also credits the Beatles, Aretha Franklin, and Etta James for playing a large part in her inspiration. This is not surprising when you listen to the depth of soul with which she performs.
Musical theatre at a young age is where she gained experience performing before a live audience. It was at the age of 15 that she began to perform on a professional basis as a singer/songwriter. She has been receiving accolades within the industry for her ability to perform within many styles/genres of music.
The latest video from Leah Lost’s current album ‘My Intro’ is a calm yet soulful tune that demonstrates the relaxing strength and beauty in her voice.
As she releases singles from her current album, she continues to propel forward engaging her creativity. Not only is she already working on her next album (with a hope for release of Spring of 2013), she is also doing collaborations with various producers, and giving live performances.
Her most recent collaboration:

And one of my favorites:
